Hemp Seeds are incredibly versatile and can be used in many ways. They make for an easy topping on smoothies and smoothie bowls and are also fabulous to sprinkle on top of your morning oats or breakfast mueslis.
They are a great addition to protein bars or bliss balls and add a little bit of texture on top of salads.

Hemp Seeds are one of those wonder foods in the plant-based world! I have been vegetarian since 2013 and vegan since 2015 and one of the questions that I get asked most frequently is, “Where do you get your protein from?”
There are so many sources of protein that don’t involve meat that having a diet lacking in protein is not an issue for someone who follows a balanced plant-based diet.
Hemp seeds are a wonderful example of an easily accessible and versatile protein source.
Hemp Seeds are one of nature’s superfoods! They are an amazing source of protein containing 31.4 gram per 100 grams. As a comparison, red meat contains 27 grams per 100 grams. Hemp is one of the most complete protein sources in the plant food kingdom containing all 21 known amino acids.
They also are an incredible source of Omega 3 and 6 – in fact they contain more than any other known whole food which includes fish, chia, flax or even Sacha inchi seeds. They are also high in fibre and anti-oxidants.

I wanted to use them in a recipe that I make all the time to show you how you can incorporate them in your daily recipes. Hummus is also always a fabulous crowd pleaser.
This hummus had a wonderful texture from the hemp seeds and the addition of the lemon juice and zest gave it an extra tang. Not only that, it took me only a few minutes to create! A delicious recipe that is filled with nutritional goodness.
